Southern Columbia is not and will never be a Bechai. First of all they have one school district they do not encompass students from many districts. All of their wrestlers live within the boundaries of the district, whether they transferred or not. And most importantly NO ONE is convincing them to come there, the choice lies with the wrestler and family.

The PIAA like everything else is 100% political. You can go here but not there. You can' wrestle there, but you can't wrestle there. Wrestler A can go here but wrestler B can't go there. Yet, you can go play soccer or football for another school without penalty. But heaven for bid you wrestle there. It's okay for your academics. It's okay to help soccer or football team, but since you're dogging our wrestling program. You're done. One would think in proving a "student-athlete" ineligible to wrestle, they'd be ineligible for ALL sports. Yet, not even close to the case. I understand every situation is different. Every situation warrants different opinions, but at the end of the day, it's the families choice. Does anyone think for one second a family would move, if it did not benefit their family? Everyone including the PIAA needs to grow up. Talking about kids and their futures. Not this school now can win this and this school now can not. Sickening.

I don't think anyone should ever be suspended for making a decision that they feel is best for there child .

My only thing is that everyone comes down on Benton and zain got suspended for one year. I agree with you lebarron! If you are going to have rules, then please be consistent. By the way, apparently no one at Line Mountain challenged Zain's younger sister for playing Field Hockey for Benton - which goes to thinkiknowitall's comment of how wrestling is overly scrutinized by the PIAA. I wish Billy Barnes and his family the best. We live in a free country, and parents should be able to decide what is best for their kids - academically and athletically.

The sister wasn't challenged because she didn't move for field hockey. She just had to go along for the ride. Zain was challenged because the move was for athletic reasons, which they have admitted later. And are trying to get other families to move to Benton for wrestling. How do I know this, because they said this to a family member, and tried to recruit them. Wrestling isn't over scrutinized, there are more hearings for basketball and football than wrestling across the state. Either sue the PIAA for a rule change, or play for a private school.

Its your child you should be able to decide where they go to school it is no ones business It isn't anybody's business where you send your kids to school for an education. PIAA sports are a separate organization.

I think the Barnes and Zain things are totally different. First of all the Barnes family relocated everything, they do not own any property in Williamson. Zain's family still has a farm in Line Mtn. Zains sister was also a middle schooler which does not matter to the PIAA. I also think that Zain did not leave Line Mtn quietly.

Was it ever settled if Billy Barnes can wrestle this year with Southern or not?
