The sectional tournaments are fuller than they’ve been in the last several years. It’s very apparent that the numb skulls that want to see weight classes cut don’t have a dog in the fight. D4 is loaded with some young studs throughout all the weights. Cut weight classes and all you do is bottle neck the studs into one weight class which takes away from another kids chance of getting to the big show. I do not see this sport going in a downward spiral at all. Regardless of ff’s in dual meets. This is just an issue with small town schools. Benton had 5-6 ff’s a couple years ago and now they’re back on full force. Jersey Shore has always been able to field a full squad and now they have 5-6 ff’s. Keep the weights they way they are. If you don’t like to see ff’s don’t go to dual meets. Just follow from sectionals on which is what you are most interested in.

Junior High seems like the much bigger issue

Athens has a pretty good 106lber sitting home this weekend. Wrestled all year for them and got bumped out for post season. If you want to see full brackets then let these kids wrestle. So Athens has two kids in a weight class, so what, at least they get to roll. I think that is where wrestling is dropping the ball. We need to give them more opportunities, not less.
