What's with the upswing in backlash towards Southern? Are people jealous. It seemed like every time one fo their kids lost the crowd cheered like crazy. Or booed if the won or were winning. Some exceptions here and there. And don't give me that recruiting BS. Cause Montoursville and Benton both have tons of kids from other schools.

Didn't really see much booing when they won. As for cheering the two I saw the crowd get loud was Lear winning it at 160, which I don't think there was louder cheering because a Southern kid lost I think the crowd just got into a great match that ended in an ultimate rideout. As for the other Linn got booed and the crowd cheered when he lost because he was out of control. I guess I could have missed some, but I really wasn't on one side or the other for most matches, just wanted to see great wrestling.

It doesn't bother me that Southern has like 3 kids actually from southern in their lineup. It is what it is. The coaches aren't going to turn them down when they move in. I don't get the coaches getting coach of the year and stuff like that, or getting excited because they are #1 in the district. I will say this, Southern didn't have much of a crowd compared to years past.

I noticed a lack of a Southern crowd as well the past two weekends. Benton always brings a good crowd and the boos were at 170 for obvious reasons.

Lets face it Southern gets transfers because of football, if the kid happens to wrestle also, good for them, lets not forget Zachman and Holiday didnt even wrestle this year because of football, They travel well in football perhaps the whole communities in that school district are there, Benton is a wrestling town and they get kids tranfer there to wrestle, thats why they have such a big crowd in wrestling, nothing wrong with either of it

I have written on this website and have gotten drawn into the discussions saying things about PIAA and parents. I want to first apologize for that as the more I read and more I watch this season and things I hear going on with kids, coaches, and parents is way beyond wrestling. I feel obligated to make my last comment. Along with the Pledge of Allegiance before each dual or tournament we should have a prayer. Not for success but for safety of competitors and everyone involved to do their best and compete with class and respect. Then during the event fans cheer for there teams and their wrestlers and don’t boo or act disrespectful. The referees may miss a call or make a wrong call and coaches can question but respectfully and referees need to respond respectfully and understand that mistakes are made and no should expect perfection. Just a thought can’t hurt. These kids are our future and if something don’t change it’s not gonna he good.

Wrestling is an intense sport that is passionately performed and followed. Everyone involved knows this way before hand. You can choose to follow or play any sport you want. If you want what you are explaining after the anthem part , have your child join the chess club.

I've seen officials and coaches chased out of gyms, I have seen the police called and escorting fans or parents out of the building. I've seen boos and things thrown on the mat and I have seen way more unsportsmanlike activity between wrestlers than today. I have heard horror stories from the old timers in the 1950's and 1960's. You are way off base and living in a fantasy world.

First of all, there is a big difference between having a co-op and pulling in "tons of kids from other schools." Second, some of the backlash against certain Southern wrestlers is because a couple of their wrestlers have serious attitude problems. Not naming names, but it's pretty obvious which ones I'm referring to. Confidence is great. Cockiness is not. Coaches try to correct it, and suddenly they are the bad guy.
