Thanks!!! For that but preseason rankings suck when they use last years weights, plus I believe Milton should be much higher in ranking considering we only had 1 senior last year!!

How can you rank Edsell and Leberron above Vitale when he was the only one to place at states from that weight? Facts are facts. He should start the year ranked #1. I think Porter from Wya. could / should be higher. Marks beats Hoffman everyday of the week. Is it me or does D4 seem a little weaker than years past, depth wise? I know its early and a lot of stuff needs to be sorted out, i.e. weight, transfers, injuries.... Just some discussion for you guys and gals while we wait for the season to come.

Discussion is about all pre-season rankings, based on last year's weights are good for.
I think the answer to your question is that these are D4 Regional Rankings. As such, they have to be based on inter-regional results last year, not state placement. Lebarron beat Vitale H2H in regionals last year, so until that result changes, then within D4, Lebarron is still ranked higher.
Lots and lots of weight changes going to occur, which will shuffle these so much, I see little value in them, as opposed to college, where there are a lot fewer weight changes.

Not at regionals. LeBarron majored him 8-0. In-season, you're right, Vitale beat him 6-5. IMO, the last match, in the tournament that matters, is what the rankings should reflect. Understand, I don't have a dog in this fight, just trying to offer an opinion as to why they are pre-season ranked where they are.

Point taken, I have no dog in the race either, it just seemed odd to me that the kid places 6th in the state, and two kids that were at that weight with him in the previous year DNP and are ranked ahead of him. But then again they're just rankings! Should be a fun year!

Rankings should be based on last match wrestled.

Re: Vitale - non issue; he will not be wrestling this year.
We weren't sure if Todd Lane was going to be back this year after missing last year. We saw Marks playing football and assumed he would return to the mats.
State placement is sometimes overrated based on brackets so we looked at the last H2H meeting and ranked LeBarron higher.

I think people hear neck injury and just assume. Neck isn't anything to fool around with. Some things are more important than sports. But again we don't know the specifics. Hoping for a full and quick recovery!!!!
