I knew he was going to be good just from his high school accolades, but dominating the scuffle like that as a freshman at an upper weight? WOW! This kid is a beast.

I was a little surprised they pulled his redshirt. Cael tends to not do that, unless there are just no other options. He now does have two losses on his record. Brucki of Central Michigan, prior to pulling the shirt, and Meyers of Iowa, the day the shirt was pulled. He'll have another good test Friday night against Brunson of Illinois. This will be the first home match that he wrestles, as Northwestern forfeited his weight in what would have been his first home match. I'll bet he puts on a show for the crowd, and won't be surprised when he's high up on the podium in St. Louis.

He is looking better every match now. I think nerves got to him in the Iowa match. I'm sure it is tough to go into a packed Carver Hawkeye for your first every college dual match. Hopefully pulling the shirt was a good thing and he gets us some points in St. Louis!

Mark Hall was in attendance Saturday during the AA Finals. Very personable kid.
