PJW's are a joke. One of the better wrestlers in the area wont be competing today because you cant change weights once weigh ins begin. That has to be the dumbest thing i have ever seen.Just proves to me it is one more area of wrestling that is no longer for the kids but a money scheme. No good reason he could not have moved up a weight class and wrestled today. That just made todays tournament in Williamsport a sham as far as I'm concerned. It is the first round of qualifying so a wrestler should be able to step on the scales and wrestle the weight he makes then maintaine that weight for the rest of the tournament. One big joke as far as Im concerned

Not the organization's fault he didn't make weight.

He was restricted due to an injury could not practice or wrestle the weekend before. He won the Shamokin tournament at 124.He also Tech falled the winner of the 130lb class. He couldnt make weigh ins friday night due to a prior commitment.I still dont think its right that its ok to change weights the night before(which I found out was aloud)but not saturday morning.None of my sons will bother with this tournament again.I wont recommend it to any parents either.I heard the numbers were low also.Like i said its no longer about the kids the tournament directors just didnt want to be bothered to change brackets

I agree they did let people change on saturday and i know the one personaly. And as far as changing the brakets sunday they had them all messed up any how and started an hour late. So dont think it would have mattered if people would of changed weights that day. As far as money pjws is cheaper than mawas but agree both places deffenetly like there money. Did they at least give your money back?

Did not ask for it back.I was a bit shocked when he didnt make weight but totally taken off guard when he couldnt move up.The one guy in weigh ins told me after 2:00 saturday no one was allowed to change weights. He said he was sorry but it was a PJW rule not theirs. So either he was not aware that they allowed it the night before after weigh ins began or he lied to me.Bradley and Nate Jones haven't wrestled each other in a couple years and it would have been a good match to watch had he made weigh.Bridge burned lesson learned I guess. He is ready to focus on freestyle and possibly MAWAs.

My understanding is that PJW's are supposed to give youth and junior high wrestlers experience with the high school post-season format. I'm guessing that the weigh-in rules are made known well in advance. If you don't like them, you can stay home...which, apparently, is what you have chosen to do in the future. Parents shouldn't throw hissy-fits when rules are not bent to accomodate their kids. As far as PJW's being about making money...get over it. In a capitalist country like ours, people are allowed to try to make money from whatever they want --- as long as it's not illegal. Once again, the high school postseason is also about making money --- for the PIAA, for Hershey, etc. But it also provides an outstanding opportunity for our wrestlers to compete at the highest level.

can't make weight, can't wreslte. That's been the rule as long as I can remember. It's a pretty simple concept. I think PJW's are great. Sorry you're kid didn't make weight, but it's not the tournaments fault. Don't let the door hit ya.
