Brown secured an Ncaa appearance with a 2-1 win in the consi semifinal.
From the Lehigh wrestling site:
"Cornell appeared to be in firm control of the team race after one day, but Lehigh was allowed back in the mix Sunday morning after Big Red freshman Billy George was disqualified from the tournament for flagrant misconduct after kneeing Lehigh freshman Nate Brown in the head moments after Brown’s 2-1 win in a consolation semifinal at 174. The disqualification resulted in two bonus points for the Mountain Hawks and a loss of all of George’s team points for Cornell, as Lehigh actually led the Big Red by half a point before the start of the consolation finals and placement matches."
Brown then gave a medical FF for third, finishing fourth.
Good luck Nathaniel!!

Was Nate's medical FF related to the knee to the head?

Have heard that Brown will not be medically cleared to compete at NCAAs. He earned his shot to nationals and this kid from Cornell cheap shots him to the head and its over for Nate. I really hope Cornell deals with this quickly and decisively. I feel very bad for Nate that he will miss his first NCAA appearance due to a flagrant cheap shot. Horrible!

I got to meet Nate last year at Nationals at Philly. I feel really badly for him because he stated he was looking forward to being down on the mat competing instead of watching from the stands. FWIW, I've lived in NJ for the past several years and I can tell you that George and his high school (Long Branch) have history of such behavior. It will be interesting to see what actions Coach Koll takes given the impact of George's actions, both on Nate and given the fact it nearly cost Cornell the EIWA title. Here is the article in The Morning Call: blogs.mcall.com/sports/2012/03/brown-out-for-lehigh-not-a-good-thing.html

What you heard is true. He is not medically cleared to wrestle at the NCAA tournament due to a concussion causing him to be unconscious (knocked out). Its a crying shame. The NCAA should take immediate action with Cornell and the wrestler involved. Penalty points do not compensate for the harm that was done. Have heard that Brown will not be medically cleared to compete at NCAAs. He earned his shot to nationals and this kid from Cornell cheap shots him to the head and its over for Nate.
