Wildcat, there is no doubt that you do not have asthma, it can flare up at anytime, anyplace. It's like having 300lbs sitting on your chest. It's a scary condition. I only wish it was as easy to control as you make it out to be. If a wrestler has an asthma attack, that is exactly what injury time is for, you have it, you need it, you use it...

doubleleg24I apologize if you feel I was questioning the integrity of you or your son, but truly, I was not. Yes, I mentioned the name of the team, but not the wrestler. It was the incident of some people booing and the remark of the Bloomsburg fan that he had brain surgery. I think any normal person would have reacted as I did. Yes, I have a medical background, but not a doctor. Was a Medical Corpsman during the Vietnam war. You state your son has asthma and was having trouble breathing, and I believe you - problem is, fans see it as being 'gassed', as they refer to it in wrestling. The appearance is very much the same. There are no posted signs or announcements prior to a match that a particular youngster has a medical problem but is wrestling anyway. We all presume they are 100% fit to compete in a tough sport, barring an injury. I should also mention that as your son and our wrestler were going out of bounds, they butted heads, as often occurs. This is when the timeout was called and when the Bloom fan enlightened the Lewisburg fans about the surgery. We could only imagine that the head butting caused pain, which caused us all pause and concern. It was the Bloomsburg fan's explanation that led all of us to think that was the case. Perhaps the PIAA should change it from injury timeout to medical timeout, then this would cover all aspects, I don't know. But I do know I was not putting your son down, not at all. I sincerely wish him good health. This is the father of the bloomsburg boy whom "LBGPOP" is referring to.Unless you, sir, have a medical background or are smarter than the neurologist who cleared my son then i suggest you not post anymore on this topic. My sons surgery had nothing to do with what was going on in the match. If you or any of your fans would have noticed...he could'nt breathe(he had an asthma attack!).He did not take any "extra" time,he took a hit of his inhaler and finished the match.(which,by the way, was NEVER in doubt...final score 19-6!!!!) So,before questioning my integrity or the integrity of the school, please think before you post.

If there is an injury time-out, I wish I could see a trainer at the injured person. So many times I see no trainer or medical person there at the scene, and the injured person is sucking up water and getting his breath. This takes away from the kids that are well conditioned and work hard to get to that point. I just don't know how you can stop it. The only way would be be penalize, but you would have to prove him ok. What a mess that would be.
